Secret Tools of the Sacred Trade

Secret FX tools revealed! Goa demonstrates the proprietary software developed for the production of THRIVE: What on Earth Will it Take?

Find out more about this new OPEN SOURCE initiative now on GitHub!!

Goa walks us through some of the tools in the liquidbuddha “treasure chest” or custom effects toolkit… “evoluting” toroids, phi-vortex generators, jitterbugging VEs and more! It’s a lot to cover, and we honestly only scratched the surface… and speaking of scratches, sorry for the poor audio quality.. this was an in-house spot not intended for public viewing.

We’ve kept the technology a secret until now. With the release of THRIVE, we’ve decided to give it away!  We know the future is open-source, so we’re working on packaging the core MEL toolset for free distribution. If you’re interested in a pre-release copy, contact us!

Looks amazing! Would love to be in the loop for a copy.

  2. Hi,

I’m very interested in working with the MEL toolset. I am the founder of a startup that is working on a next generation live experience application focusing on shared musical experience. We want to produce some release videos and are looking for cutting edge graphics and video production to add to the mix. Cheers and I look forward to hearing more.

    Hello everyone!!

First THANK YOU for your interest and enthusiasm for the toolkit… the response has been quite more than we expected! Thanks to everyone posting, and writing in via the contact form… I can’t reply to everyone, but we are building a dB of your names, so when we’re ready, you’ll know ASAP! If you use our contact form, make sure use SECRET TOOLS in the message.

UPDATE: We’re wrapping up the toolset into a standalone format, unplugging it from our pipeline. And we’re considering the best way to distribute the code… our own site, AREA, etc… suggestions are welcome!

Lastly, know that at this stage the codebase is MEL only. Which means you have to have the Autodesk Maya software to utilize it. However, I expect being open-sourced a standalone version couldn’t be too far away!

    Stay tuned!
